Our Auto-Close Settings have moved! You can now find them under Report Settings, allowing you to choose if you want inspections for selected Report Types to auto-close after a specified time period.
With our Auto-Close Inspections feature, you can:
Set your inspections to automatically close after a specific period of time, i.e., close after 3 days, close after 7 days, etc.
Set your inspections to automatically close as soon as all required signatures have been added to the report.
Disabling the auto-close setting for collected signatures does not affect the time-based auto-close rule; inspections will still close automatically based on the specified time period unless adjusted.
This will help with managing inspections much more effectively and will allow you to timeously close up jobs by reducing your admin for this task.If you experience issues closing an inspection, one possible reason could be an open previous checkout for the same property. Ensure that earlier checkouts are closed to proceed with the current inspection.
1. Start off by navigating to your Settings tab on your online dashboard > click on Reports.
2. Scroll down and click on Advanced Settings > navigate to the Auto Close option:
3. If you'd like inspections to automatically close after a specific period of time (with or without the signatures), you can click on the drop down arrow and select the desired time frame:
4. You now have the option to set all inspections to auto-close once all required signatures have been added to a report.
This feature will allow your reports to be marked as ‘Closed’ once the signatures have been added; no need to close the reports manually (unless you want to!) > Toggle to ‘On’ to enable this option:
Why Can't I Close My Inspection?
One common reason you may find it impossible to close an inspection is the existence of a previous, open checkout for the same property. InventoryBase requires earlier checkouts to be closed before the current inspection can be completed. This ensures a clear, sequential workflow for property inspections.
Solution:
Locate and close any open checkout records for the property in question.
Once the earlier checkout is resolved, you should be able to close the inspection without further issues.
FAQs
Can I disable both auto-close settings? Yes, you can choose to disable both the signature-based and time-based auto-close rules. Note, however, that inspections will then require manual closure.
How do I adjust the time-based auto-close period? Navigate to the inspection settings in your dashboard, where you can modify the default time period or disable the rule altogether.
